Note the layered headgear. (Not shown: no base layer, leggings, or long underwear. B/cs I'm an idiot.) |

These pictures do not convey how COLD it was on our first day of holiday at Wisp. A group of us headed out to the mountains to ski, snowboard, hike, laze around, and play games. A ton of food was made, notably bacon, and way too many cookies may have been eaten by the author. I feel like I need to wash my clothes, not because they are particularly dirty, but because they reek of smoke and bacon.
The above pictures are from our adventure hike to Swallow Falls State Park to visit Muddy Creek Falls, the highest free-falling waterfall in Maryland. I forgot to pack a base layer for the trip, so I felt like a freezing idiot. And while some of you may think 11 degrees isn't so bad, it felt like 0, and if you still don't think that's bad, well, bully for you.
Thankfully the walk from the lot to the falls isn't long or arduous at all; it is an easy hike, with the path nicely laid out. For the future, I am considering a small investment in actual snow boots. Alicia had crampons, a very practical stocking stuffer for any of you thinking of next year's presents for loved ones.
